The Natural And Proud People Inspiration Project was an celebration of our decision to be free of chemicals, wigs, weaves, hot combs, ear burns, flat irons and Jheri curls. This grant funded project involved community based discussions about our complicated relationship with our hair, that led to songs, poetry, products and performances at a culminating "Natural Hair Natural Living" event in Portland, Ore. It was funded by the Regional Arts & Culture Council and Twysted Healing Systahs, where healing is at the center of everything we do.
