Types of Hair - Asian Hair

No two persons have the exact hair. The same way different races have different skin color, it's the same way different ethnic groups have different types of tresses. There are three main types depending on ethnic group - Asian, afro-Caribbean and Caucasian - all types having their own unique attributes. No matter how different the types are, they comprised of the same parts. These are the cuticle, cortex, medulla and a very important protein called keratin which is the chief part of all. What determines the shape of your tresses is the shape of each follicle. Asian hair grows from round follicles giving it a bone straight appearance. It has very thick cuticles made up of approximately ten layers while other types have around five.

Asian hair type is the most dominant in the entire universe. It usually has smaller thickness than the other types but it grows faster than the rest by far pertaining to swiftness of growth. The quantity of hair on the head in Asians is small but because of the thickness it appears to be full. It has been found that this type reacts more quickly to care products, specifically, hair loss products. It is considered that this has to do with the natural speed of growth that this type has. It is also stronger than other types and more able to recuperate from damages and it also has the longest cycle of growth which lasts up to nine years. Formerly, this type was the least susceptible but lately Asians have been adopting the practices of the western world. These habits can result in very thin hair as it is not very crowded.

Each type calls for different care procedures and products to fulfill the requirements of that special type. Asian hair absorbs moisture very fast and keeps that moisture. In spite of this, it may undergo extra dryness. This is because it tends to be very long and as a result moisture is lost along the long shaft. Hair loss in Asians is little since few hairs are lost daily. Balding is also a rare occurrence in Asians. This type is generally shiny because of the presence of a medulla containing dark pigment which explains the shininess and high moisture. Asians usually have oily scalp which demands their mane to be washed frequently to avoid a dirty look.

Because Asian hair is long, straight, strong and typically free from chemical impairment it is the ideal type to utilize for extensions. As a result, persons turn to Asian countries for human tresses to be used in wig making and extensions.

This type requires the use of products that are appropriate for that specific kind. Shampoos that have a pH of 5 to 5.5 are ideal; anything over that pH would be too harsh. Individuals of Asian lineage must avoid using products like mineral oil.

Asian styles are usually different. They usually look sleek, smooth and silky. They are also generally extremely straight and flowing. Stylists agree that it is harder to curl and colour when compared to other types. Digital hot perm machines are helpful in styling because they can be set to provide the appropriate heat and chemical solution for any type. Asian hair is dark and therefore adding highlights to it can truly highlight the appearance of the tresses. Double-sided coloring is a great way to augment this type. The underside is colored in a dark brown shade and a lighter shade is dyed on top. This gives a shimmering effect when the hairs rub against each other.

Adults Sports Theme Party

Tips on how to organize a successful adults sport theme party:

1. Send invitations and after the party, thank you letters, with the chosen sports theme.

2. As a host, help your guest get into the party spirit by putting on an outfit that reflects entirely the theme of the party. If your party's theme is baseball, put on an Old Tyme Baseball uniform including black stripes for men or a Fantasy player outfit including a red, white and blue zip front dress with double flounce hem, hat, belt, gloves and inflatable bat, for women. If your party is about Nascar, put on a sexy race crew outfit or dress up like a penalizer referee if you're having a football theme party.

3. Make your guests get into the party's theme from the moment they step in. Order a custom banner and anchor it somewhere at the entrance.

4. Turn the party location into a playground. Get a wall mural. It's easy to handle and it will definitely help you make an impact on your guests. Upon your theme party, get a Baseball or a Pebble Beach Wall Mural. The latter is every golf player's dream location. If you're throwing out a party for surfers, bring the sea or the ocean into your house with a beach scene setter. Some superb add-ons to this landscape could be a few inflatable palm trees with inflatable coconuts or a 24'' Prismatic Sun Balloon with a two-sided design.

5. Reflect the party's theme into to the smallest details. Light you drinks with football shaped ice cubes; get bowling, baseball or basketball shaped candles, depending on your party's theme; have gymnastics napkins, basketball cooler or soccer water bottles.

6. Organize small contests during your party and reward your winning guests with ,bronze, silver and golden medals and even a trophy.

7. Provide tools for your guests to cheer it for their favorite players during the contests you organize within the party. Could be ,boas, pom poms, spirit wigs or afro wigs.

8. If you and your friends are gathering to watch a favorite team or player's performance, make sure you have everything you need for some noise. Baseball horns or baseball tambourines are perfect for a baseball game.

9. In case some of your guests don't come prepared for a sports theme party, you should have at hand party items like baseball or basketball hats, colorful sports eyeglasses, princess bowling shirts, football shirts or football beads.

10. Be cost-effective in organizing your sports theme party. For a baseball party you can get a Home Run Derby Pack including basic items like baseball maracas, horns, clackers, hats, tambourines and medallions. For a football party, you can go for a kit customized with your favorite team's symbols like aTampa Bay Buccaneers Kit or San Diego Chargers Kit.

Organizing a sports theme party is a lot of fun even for adults. Make sure you organize everything to the smallest details in order to reflect the chosen sports theme.

Clip in Hair Extensions Vs Hair Wefts - The Differences and Advantages

What are the differences between clip on extensions and one piece clip in pieces? Which are better? We explain all for you!

Clip in Extensions - what are they and how do they work?

Hair extensions are an easy way of making tresses longer and thicker by attaching human hair (obtained by companies often from women in India or Russia) or synthetic fibre to your own head using one of a number of methods.

Very few celebrities we see who have long, thick manes are lucky enough to be blessed with natural hair in that state. Many have bonded real- hair extensions, glued or bonded in using heat guns by professionals. Experts can apply extensions so that joins can rarely be seen, and colours blended so very rarely can the client's real hair be distinguished from the added hair. The cost of a full-head of real extensions can be upwards of £600 (and often take over 4 hours to apply) and these need replacing (to maintain their condition) at least every 3-4 months.

It is the prohibitive costs of these professionally applied extensions that has opened the market for clip-in extensions. These can be made of real hair or synthetic high heat friendly fibre and come in all shades of colours so that you can mix and match with your own hair.

The width and length of the extensions can also vary so that you can choose the placing of the pieces on your own head. Each extension piece (ranging from 5cm wide to 15 cm wide has a clip attached which you can use to clip into your own hair.

Packs of "full head clip in extensions" will contain a selection of pieces of different widths that you can use individually or all together- depending on what effect/thickness you wish to achieve.

One piece wefts- how do they work?

Hair wefts have been popular in the afro-caribbean market for a long time and are often sewn into one's own hair for a semi-permanent effect, similar to glued hair extensions.

Clip in hair pieces and wefts are a temporary version of these traditional wefts and allow users to clip in easily to their own hair when length or extra thickness is needed. As opposed to extensions which come in small separate pieces, a weft is almost like a half-wig which clips from one side of the head all the way to the other. Attached to the head, underneath the top layer of hair, using a number of clips it creates a fuller effect than clip in hair extensions.

Wefts can come in different lengths, curly, wavy or straight styles and in different colours to match your own tone.

Clip in Extensions or Hair wefts?

Both are great, easy ways of adding length to your own hair.

Clip in extensions give you the option of adding contrasting colour and highlights to your hair as well. You could experiment with different colour sets and create modern trends without having to dye your own hair.

Clip on extensions, although great for colour and length do not tend to have a great effect in terms of thickening hair, just because it would take quite a few packs, and a lot more time in attaching the pieces. Hair wefts, however, are fantastic for adding instant volume in a few simple clicks.

How are extensions and wefts attached?

Many wig retailers give free advice and instructions with all their products. There are also videos on YouTube which can show you step-by-step how to achieve your desired effect. Our own instructional video can be viewed here

'UFOs' -The UNDISPUTED TRUTH

NOTICE: I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THE SINGLE, "UFOs". THOSE RIGHTS ARE OWNED BY JOBETE MUSIC and MOTOWN/UMG. PLEASE ENJOY THE TRIBUTE VIDEO AND SUPPORT THE ARTIST BY LEGALLY PURCHASING THEIR MUSIC. THANK YOU. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE UNDISPUTED TRUTH were a creation of producer NORMAN WHITFIELD. He used the group as a 'test board' for new TEMPTATIONS material, but eventually, the group took on a life of it's own, becoming GORDY/Motown's physical answer to Parliament-Funkadelic. Not only did they SOUND the part (thanks to Mr. Whitfield's writing and production), but in concert, they actually LOOKED the part: Powdered Afro Wigs, Glittering Face-Paint, Shiny-Silver Leisure Suits, 6-Inch Platform Heels. During the first 3 1/2 years of existence, TUT was a 3-person vocal group (1 man, 2 women) who gave the world "Smiling Faces, Sometimes"--a Motown classic. It was after 1974's "The Law Of The Land" when they began their interstellar transformation. The 2 women left, being replaced by five other vocalists to augment the remaining male vocalist. By Nov. 1974, the band issued a rockadelic track called "L'il Red Riding Hood", which led to their most P-Funk-like album, Feb. 1975's "Cosmic Truth". "UFO's" was the second single, and very self-explanitory: pure Sci-Fi 'pre-Mothership Connection' funk. (yup, they beat George Clinton to the Mothership.) Among the people who actually went thru this band's revolving door was TAKA BOOM ...

Look 10 Years Younger With Hair Extensions

Call me vain and shallow, but I can't imagine life without my hair extensions, they have made such a difference to the way I look and feel.

Before extensions, everyday was a bad hair day. But not any more!!! These days my hair even manages to look good first thing in the morning (which is a first for me).

My only regret is not having them sooner, but I was afraid they'd ruin my hair (like a lot of us, I'd heard all the bad press about them). Remarkably and much to my amazement, my own hair has benefitted since I started wearing them in June 2009.

Far from making it thinner, my own hair looks thicker and healthier and the condition has definitely improved. I can only assume the extensions have put a wall of protection around it, that and fabulous hair products I'm obliged to use on it.

So if you loathe your hair, don't despair. There's another solution besides hiding under a hat or wearing a wig. And you don't have to be a WAG, actress or model to qualify!

One thing is for sure, extensions will knock years off you and make you feel fabulous.

A word of warning though, it's vital you choose the hair brand and salon with great care, after all, those bad rumours didn't start without good reason! Make sure you find someone highly skilled who applies extensions regularly.

Choose your brand of hair extensions with care. Ideally, you should buy from a company who sell hair that has been ethically sourced and the hair is top notch quality. European hair is recognised for being the best quality, it is also the most expensive. In second place is Indian hair and in third Asian. This is simply because Indian and Asian hair extensions have to go through far more severe chemical processes in order for the texture and colour to resembel and match up to European hair.

I did my research thoroughly and found a company who besides using hair that's ethically sourced also sent me to their consultant trichologist first for the go-ahead. The purpose of this was to make sure my own scalp was healthy first so the extensions wouldn't harm my hair in anyway. So I knew I was in safe hands.

But the real clincher was reading in the national press how this same company were doing wonders for women in recovery from cancer and other hair loss related illnesses. It made me realise I'd be dealing with people who genuinely cared about making all women feel better about themselves. The rest as they say is history.

I'm telling you all this because my hair extensions have made the world of difference to me. I've hated my hair all my life and now for the first time ever I love it.

So if you feel the same way, maybe you should consider getting them too. Without a doubt, our hair affects the way we feel. When it looks good, we feel good! That's all there is too it and besides, life's too short to go through it feeling miserable. Oh by the way, incase you're interested, the company whose hair extensions I use is Racoon International.

Natural Hair, The Journey

Before you even begin your natural hair journey, you need to have a plan. You and your hair are going to go through a serious transition. Its almost like a 12 step program. If you do not have a plan to take you through this transition, sheer frustration (depending on your hair type) will send you running back to a relaxer faster than you can say natural. I say depending on your hair type, because some people can slap their hair into a ponytail and look presentable. If you have hair like mine, you have to learn how to tame her before she will do anything for you.

During your transition phase, you still want to look presentable, especially if you have a professional job. What you don't want to do is rock the half relaxed, half natural look, like I did for a while. Or wear your hair in a head wrap everyday.

Here are some tips on how to maintain your hair while growing your relaxer out.

Braids
Braids can be a lifesaver. You have the choice to braid your natural hair or use synthetic hair. You will never get bored with braids, because you can wear your braids in a plethora of styles. Everyone knows someone that can braid.

Hot Comb/Blow out
Although, this is my least favorite, some people tend to press their hair during their transition. Excessive heat can damage your hair. But on the other hand their are new and improved ways to press your natural hair today that can minimize the heat damage. If this is the route you choose to go, try to find a professional to press your hair for you. Also make sure to treat your hair. Get a really good deep conditioner to try to combat the damage that you may be causing your hair.

wigs
You can purchase a couple of wigs and alternate between them. Wigs are another resource. They come in every color and style imaginable. The opportunities are endless. During this time you should also be experimenting with different ways you may want to wear your hair when you are completely natural. Do your research, visit this site and other sites and magazines for the latest styles.

How long will it take to grow out my relaxer?
This is a question that I am asked a lot. There is really no cut and dry answer. What you're really asking is, how long do I have to endure the ugly phase? Everyone is different. My hair is course and thick, and my new growth would surface quickly. Waiting 6 weeks to get a touch up was torture for me, because my new growth was in usually within 3-4 weeks. I would say within 6-7 months (if memory serves me correctly) I had enough new growth to cut off the relaxed ends. It really depends on how fast your hair grows.

Do I have to cut my hair?
Another question, I get all the time is, Do I have to cut my hair? Again this may be on a case-by-case basis. I have never met anyone that has not had to cut their hair at some point during the process, but I have heard rumors that you can go natural without cutting your hair. As for me, I realized when it was time for the big chop, because my hair stopped growing, began breaking a lot and my ends became very stringy. For you it may be different.

I've also heard people say that they cut their hair as they went through the process, rather than cutting off the relaxed ends all at once.

Okay you are all "Na-Chu-Ral," So what the heck do I do now? You are finally free! You've unchained yourself from the relaxer and now you have a head full of natural hair, your hair Your beautiful hair. Now after you have run your fingers through it a dozen times, reality sets in. What do I do with all of this hair? Hopefully by now you have come up with some styles that you may be interested in trying out. Now it's time to put your plan into motion. The worst thing is to wake up in the morning to get ready to go to school or work and not have a clue what you are going to do with your hair. I've been there. Don't do it! You have to get used to combing and styling your own hair. It's a bit different without a relaxer. Be patient and practice good planning.

4 Crossdressing Tips For Disguising a Manly Jaw

Most crossdressers and transsexuals don't just want to look like women - they want to look like beautiful women. Unfortunately, the features of a beautiful female face don't come naturally to most males - particularly the traits of a delicate jaw and chin.

So what if you were born with a jaw like Jay Leno? Don't despair!

There are plenty of beautiful genetic women with strong jaws and chins - just look at Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, and Jennifer Aniston. They look great because they know how to flatter their features - and you can do it, too!

Try these four tips for disguising a manly jaw:

1. Contour your face. When applying makeup, sweep a little bronzer or brownish-toned blush across your jawline and chin. This creates a shadow effect which makes strong features appear to recede.

2. Choose a softening hairstyle. The purpose of a great hairstyle is to flatter your face by creating balance. Look for wigs with gentle waves that flow over the harsh angles of your face. Avoid strait hair or severe styles, as they will only make you look more manly.

3. Wear the right neckline. Stay away from turtleneck or square necklines that accentuate a strong jaw. Instead, choose v-neck tops or rounded necklines to create a flattering frame for your face.

4. Feminize with accessories. The right accessories can also help soften your look. Try wearing a scarf in a flattering shade around your neck - or some dangling earrings that skim over your jaw bone. The more you distract from your masculine features, the more convincing - and attractive - you will look as a woman!
