Punk Hairstyles - How to Style
Just like fashion trends with clothing, hairstyle fashions are plentiful and always changing. Some are considered universally beautiful while others are cutting edge and done to make a statement. One of these kinds of styles is the punk hairstyle. The punk style has evolved over the past few decades and indicates not only a hairstyle but an all encompassing style of dress, body art, and cosmetology.
Punk hairstyles are created from inspiration drawn from artists, rockers, and personal influences. The wearer can tailor the look to his or her individual taste, there are no specific rules. Just go for something unruly and out of the ordinary and remember that punk style is meant to get you noticed.
How does one choose a punk hairstyle? Focus on these three aspects: color, cut, and style. Color should be bold and bright and usually hair has to be dyed to achieve the desired effect. Popular colors are often colors that don't occur naturally; pink, blue, or green. Harsh blacks and super light white blondes are also good. Colors can also be combined or used to highlight certain areas of the hair such as bangs, a Mohawk, etc.
Punk cuts are usually on the shorter side (typically no longer than about shoulder length for both guys and girls) to allow for ease of gel based styling techniques. Popular cuts are often noticeably uneven, diagonal or choppy. Buzz cuts are also common and usually pictures or words are shaved into the hair. Cuts can also include a combination of buzzed and long hair.
Popular punk styles include the Mohawk, a vertical stripe of hair running from the forehead to the back of the skull (usually with shaved sides,) and grungy "just rolled out of bed" looks (usually the least time consuming to construct.) Depending on how much time one spends on his or her style, it can change drastically from day to day. Punk hairstyles often use lots of styling products and are harsh and stiff as opposed to flowing locks of hair. Accessories and alternate styles, like braids, can also be integrated to create a unique punk style.
In conclusion, punk style relies on many different aspects to create an image. In addition to your other fashion choices, the color, cut, and style of your hair can help you to achieve your desired look. Remember that nothing is too wild for punk style, in fact, the more outrageous, the better. Rock on!

Why Wear A Wig With Your Next Costume?
A good costume wig will complete any costume. They can transform the mundane into something attractive, or, if you wish, they can do just the opposite by making something very ugly that's normally beautiful. After applying your wig, (which only takes a few seconds), it will draw attention and admirations for the entire evening. Party goers have used wigs for centuries to recreate a certain era, style, or idea, and today they're as popular as ever. In fact, they're available in party stores and online super shopping centers--making buying a wig that meets your tastes, needs, and budget easier than ever before.
Wig prices range from almost nothing to hundreds of dollars. The cost variation is due to the fact that costume wigs are made out of a variety of different materials. The cheapest wigs are made out of synthetics that appear to be similar to real hair, but don't act or feel like the real thing at all. They'll be good for a couple of parties or so, but after that they'll be so ragged and disfigured that you'll have to get a new one. Better wigs are made out of Japanese Kanekalon fiber which is soft and supple and provides a natural look and feel. But the best wigs are, of course, made out of real hair. You'll pay to wear one of those wigs, but many think it's worth the cost because it makes their costumes seem very realistic. And if properly cared for, real wigs will last a very long time.
Where is it appropriate to wear a costume wig? Costume wigs are great for Halloween parties, theatrical costumes, dress ups, Mardi Gras, and being fun and crazy on a Friday night. They can even be worn during religious and ceremonial events to attain a traditional look.
What kinds of wigs are available? It depends on where you look. Selections in traditional bricks-and-mortar stores are limited, but it you look online, you'll find pretty much anything you want. And I mean anything! afros, witch wigs, mermaid wigs, Elvira wigs, Marie Antoinette wigs, Colonial wigs, and celebrity look-a-like wigs, such as Halle Berry wigs, Ahslee Simpson wigs, Snoop Dog wigs, are all easily accessible on the internet. In addition to wigs, there are costume beards and moustaches for men.
No costume is complete without a quality wig. It will reconfigure you're hair into something completely crazy, beautiful, classy, or unexpected--it's your choice.

Funny Costume Ideas - Be the Life of the Party!
Do you want to have a lot of fun at the next costume party? Go funny! Let me help you out with some funny costume ideas.
With a little creative thinking you can turn yourself into a funny character and have everyone at the party laughing their socks off!
Speaking of socks! What could you do with socks? You could tape them to yourself along with some dryer sheets and walla! You can go as "Static Cling"!
Take a look through your refrigerator. See what you find that you can emulate. Let's see, how about a baked potato? Just wrap yourself in some tin foil for starters. And if you are really creative you can even add the toppings.
People are another source of some great potentially laughable costumes. Think about all the people out there you can turn yourself into.
How about a 1960s Hippy? An old man or woman? I bet you could turn yourself into paparazzi or an artist - painter or a scarecrow.
Of course you could go the route of a clown... All you need to get started is a red nose and go from there! Add colorful clothing, big shoes and a horn and you got yourself entertainment all evening long. Or should I say, you will be the entertainment.
What I love about clown costumes is you naturally become... funny! I went as a clown to my last costume party. It was a birthday and the birthday girl just loves costume parties! Well, I never had a funner time. I had this big afro and clothing that made people literally fall over laughing!
So you can dress up as many things, but there's nothing better then turning the glances into everyone laughing out loud and congratulating you... and maybe even thanking you for making their night.
And who knows? You might even win a contest if there is one. Funny works!
I recommend seeing what you can do just from the things you have around your house. First, it will often be cheaper then some of the high priced costumes out there, but it will also make you more unique and fun!
Otherwise there are plenty of places online that you can buy costumes. Go shopping and discover a ton of options. You can buy costumes... including funny ones. But you can also just put together bits and pieces... like that nose I mentioned above. Buy a nose for a few bucks and make up the rest.
Everyone loves funny.. I hope you found my funny costume ideas helpful. just do it!

Lace Front Wigs Set to Overtake the Tradition Weaves in the Black British, American & African Women
Why does Beyonce, Tyra Banks and Paris Hilton prefer the front lace wig? Well what is so exciting and inovativie about the front lace or full lace wig system is that the wigs hairline is constructed of lace material. This material is made out of French Lace or Swiss Lace and is virtually undetectable to the naked eye when placed against the skin. The hair is knotted into the lace and appears to grow from the scalp offering an natural appearance.
For over 30 years women of color have been weaving hair extensions onto their head in order to combat damaged hair, uncontrollable hair or simply to have a new style and look. This process could often be time consuming (several hours to apply) and sometime of an unnatural appearance. Removal of the weave could often result in hair shreddage and breakage due to tangling.
But now there is a new hair extension technique sweeping the United states and fastly becoming a sensation in the UK, Africa and Europe.
What is so exciting and innovative about the front lace or full lace wig system is that the wigs hairline is constructed of lace material. This material is made out of French Lace or Swiss Lace and is virtually undetectable to the naked eye when placed against the skin. The hair is knotted into the lace and appears to grow from the scalp offering an natural appearance.
Only a lace front wig can be trusted to maintain the illusion of growing hair and it's the preferred choice of celebrities, actors, and people in media and is fast becoming adopted by people with medical hair conditions
Traditionally, African/British and American women and medical patients were the primary consumers of hair goods, but product demand has crossed over to other market segments that are demanding today's instant hair in all its forms. This is partially due to a push from celebrities like Beyonce, Paris Hilton and Lindsay.
Firstly driving the demand for hair extensions are time-constrained consumers who want quick, new looks and style options at a variety of price points. With even the highest-priced items selling, today's fashion followers are clearly willing to pay more for quality hair goods. Manufacturers are obliging them with synthetic wigs and hairpieces that hold color and styles longer and increasingly feel more like the real deal, mimicking the bounce, body, sheen and light reflection of human hair. Today's hair goods also show off natural-looking, blended colors, even emulating grown-out roots and sun-kissed highlights. In addition, whether they're made from synthetic fiber or human hair, fashion hairpieces are now so fast and easy to attach that wearers can take them on and off like a pair of earrings. Factor in the wide array of price points and there's a wig, extension or hairpiece to fit almost every budget.
American manufacturers are seeing sales increases from 30% to 50%, and suppliers estimate that the total U.S. market now stands between $1.5 billion and $5 billion at retail. Human-hair goods represent nearly 70% of that dollar value, but synthetics represent about 80% of unit sales. (beautystorebusiness.com, February 2006)
In India hair goods are hot commodities. The global hair industry is now worth an estimated £160m and is growing by 25 to 30 per cent each year. (independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/religious-offering-faith-hope--and-western-vanity-428697.html)
Great Lengths, one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of hair extension products, said that its sales to salons in the United States have increased 35 to 50 percent each year since 2000, and it is projecting that such sales will be as much as $30 million by the end of 2006. The company president, David Gold, estimated that 95 percent of its market is made up of women 30 to 70 years old. (New York Times published on 28th September 2005 by ELIZABETH HAYT)
Black British women spend on average six times more than their white counterparts on their hair and more than half regularly visit a salon. Mintel market researchers found that while the average British woman spends £83.97 a year on beauty products, black women spend £117.44 - and that doesn't include trips to the hairdresser or spending on mainstream products not specific to afro hair.
All this adds up to a major business opportunity for hair and beauty companies. The UK market for hair care products designed specifically for black women was worth £36.5m in 2002, and accounted for 70% of overall beauty spending by black women. Recent estimates put the figure £10m higher.
The worldwide market for black hair products, meanwhile, is valued at anywhere up to £2.5bn a year, with significant markets in South Africa, Brazil, the United States and Europe. The US market, valued by Mintel at £1bn, has grown by 13% over the past five years, and is the most developed, with about 40% of the global black hair business. But the UK is seen as the next big grow. (guardian.co.uk/business/2005/aug/19/raceintheuk.lifeandhealth)
Thus in conclusion it is evident the company having all of the above components have a very clear competitive advantage to make the most of this growing multi billion industry.
Diane Shawe is a leading celebrity hair extension technician and trainer. With over 10 years experience in this field she trains students from all over Europe and the UK. Her training school offers over 12 different hair extension techniques.

How to Grow African American Hair - Fast Hair Growth Tips
African Americans often have curly and kinky hair. But to keep up with the trend, most women of this race have straightened their hair through various methods. Some have chemical relaxed their hair while the others choose to use the hot hair tools such as the iron and blow dryer. Unfortunately, the use of harsh chemicals and intense heat for the hair only results in dry hair prone to split ends.
Now the question is how then can these African American women grow their hair longer in a healthier fashion? Hair experts point to keeping the moisture of the hair to more than 15 percent. Normally, a person's hair moisture is from eight to 10 percent. But when a woman frequently uses hair styling tools that utilize high heat such as the blow dryers as well as the flat and curling irons, the tendency is for the hair to become dry and brittle. This then lowers the hair's moisture content to even below the normal eight percent.
There are several simple techniques that African American women can follow to attain longer hair faster. The key is to be consistent in practicing these methods to achieve the desired hair length.
Natural products. One of the most important tip is to stay away from products that contain harsh chemicals. In other words, go natural. You can start by developing the habit of always reading the label of the hair products you purchase. What you should aim to get are those that use natural oils to keep your African American hair moisturized up to the ends.
You must understand that the hair, just like the body, needs vitamins for nourishment. So what you should do is look for nutrients such as essential fatty acids, Omega 3, Omega 6 and natural oils such as olive, safflower oil, jojoba, sunflower oil and wheat germ.
Eat right. To supplement the natural hair products you use, make sure you also eat the right diet especially one rich in the essential fatty acids. To benefit from these fatty acids, opt for the polyunsaturated ones such as the linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid. These two are part of the Omega 6 family. They can be found in vegetables notably the green leafy ones, nuts, grains, fruits and seeds.
Moisturize often. Practice shampooing and conditioning your hair often using the natural hair products. If you can do it every day, so much the better but please don't wash your hair just once a month. After rinsing, use an additional hair lotion.
Treat with hot oil. You can do this at home to save time and money. As always, go natural. Try mixing olive oil and safflower oil and heat it in the microwave oven for about 10 to 15 minutes. When warm, apply this on your scalp.
Be gentle. Treat your hair with gentleness as often as you can. It's your crowning glory after all. So make it a point to follow the first steps on a regular basis and for sure, you're on your way to having a healthy and faster growing African American hair.
