What is the Big Deal About Dominican Hair Stylists?

Dominican hair products and hair stylists are quickly earning an outstanding reputation throughout the United States. I am sure that many wonder if this is just a new fad or if the products and stylists actually deserve their reputation. To determine their credibility lets analyze their hair treatment process.

What hair products do they use?

Dominican stylists like others use the popular name brand products such as, Sebastian, Biolage, Paul Mitchell, Nexus etc. However, they also use the traditional Dominican hair products made out of natural fruits, vegetables, or animal protein.

What is their styling process?

After washing the hair they apply the hair conditioner. Then cover hair with a plastic cap and let you sit under the bonnet dryer for ten to twenty minutes. Later they will rinse it out and do hair rollers. After that you will probably be sitting on the drier anywhere from half an hour to one hour. This depends mostly on your hair type and length. Afterwards, they will move in to styling your hair. If you just want your hair straight this is the time when they will straighten the curls or waves left by rollers with a blow dryer. They rarely like to just blow dry hair without doing the rollers first.

So, besides using different styling techniques and products what is so special about their service?

If you take a good look at both their styling practices and products they are both quite beneficial to the hair. They deep condition your hair before doing anything and secondly they use the dryer that it is a lot less harmful than blowers and irons. Even if they use the blower after taking out the rollers, they last less time blow drying it. Therefore, they would do less damage to the hair. Meanwhile the natural hair products contain the vitamins and proteins that come from the fruits, vegetables etc. This nourishes your hair by giving it the necessary nutrients for a lustrous look and feel. However, the most important thing is that the hair is healthy. Many find that after using their hair treatment process their hair gets healthier permanently.

What type of hair can benefit from their styling process and products?

All hair types (curly, straight, wavy, and coarse) can benefit from their hair process. Due to the history of the Dominican Republic the population is pretty much mixed. Some are white like their European ancestors while others resemble their African antecedents. Then there are many that have mixed traits such as coarse hair and light skin or dark skinned with curly/wavy hair. This means that the products are fabricated maintaining everyone in mind. And the stylists are pretty much experts in the treatment of all different hair types.

Another Reason why their products and styling process fit everyone is because their main focus is the maintenance and treatment of hair. By deep conditioning it, they diminish the amount of harm that we do to our hair with harsh chemicals such as hair color, relaxers, perms, highlights, etc.. They also control the amount of direct heat to individual strands by limiting or avoiding the use of blow dryers and hot irons.

What Causes Your Hairline (Edges) To Become Thin?

If you're like me, I've dealt with a thin hairline for most of my life. I believe some of it is hereditary and some is because of unhealthy hair care practices. My edges took a turn for the worse when I got micro-braids in my hair. They were braided so tight, that they literally pulled a good portion of the hair out. That was eight years ago and I haven't had braid since then. When I began my journey towards healthy hair, this was one of the areas in which I wanted to see improvement. Through some research and talking to others with the same issue, I found the following tips to be helpful in re-growing my hairline and thickening it up a bit.

First thing is to stop any practices that contribute to adding stress to your edges. This may include wearing braids and pony tails that are too tight, wearing cotton hair bands, applying gels, constant brushing, frequent touch-ups, etc.

Castor Oil - applying this oil on a regular basis helps to stimulate the hair follicles

Scalp Massages - another practice that aid in stimulating the hair follicles and blood circulation in the scalp. My suggestion would be to massage your edges every other day with castor oil and other essential oils. Moisturize - apply a moisturizer to your edges every night after your scalp massage. My suggestion would be a homemade moisturizing sprits consisting of water and castor oil.

Be Consistent - success does not happen overnight and hair growth certainly doesn't either. It is imperative to be consistent with the above practices and remember that it takes time. Determine how often and for how long you will apply these practices and then stick to it. You will see the results of your labor in due time and will be rewarded with a thicker hairline.

I am an African American woman who started a website for the purpose of teaching women about healthy hair care practices for thin fine hair. I have learned so much on my healthy hair journey and want to share it with as many women as possible.

How to Cook the Best Chicken Wings on the Planet

There are several ways to cook chicken wings. The original preparation was to deep fry the wing. Many people add flour and spices and then deep fry the wing, while others bake and some barbeque the wings. We are going to discuss the variations and techniques to make the perfect wing. The first wings or "buffalo" wing was first served at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York in 1964. Since then hot wings have become an icon. There are literally thousands of recipes from traditional cayenne pepper and every flavor of ethnic variation in between.

We love to bake and grill our chicken wings. Baking and grilling the wings is the preferred technique if you are concerned with calories. We bake them first to keep the juices in the meat and then grill them to give them the flavor and crispness hot wing lovers adore. To get the perfect juicy wing buy a roasting pan. Place the wings in the roasting pan; preheat the oven to 400 degrees. After oven is warmed to 400 degrees place wings in oven. Thawed wings should be cooked in roasting pan for 45 minutes, if the wings are frozen 80 minutes should do. After the allotted time place the wings on the grill on medium heat, turning them every few minutes, cook until golden brown and crisp. Place the cooked wings in a pan or container with a lid, pour the sauce all over the wings, place the lid on the container and shake the wings in the sauce. Place the sauced wings back on the grill for a few more minutes and serve. Make sure that your wings are cooked all the way through, undercooked chicken is very dangerous. There should be no pink inside the wings and any juices should run clear.

If you are the deep fry hot wing fan it is easy to prepare the perfect wing. Heat peanut or canola oil to 350 degrees. Use only thawed wings, pat them dry. You can season the wings will kosher salt and cracked pepper. In a bowl mix 1 cup of flour and paprika, dredge the wings in the flour mixture and place them in the fryer for 12 minutes. After the wings are cooked place on a paper towel to drain the oil. Place the cooked wings in a bowl or container with a lid, pour sauce over the wings and shake the wings into the sauce. Serve the wings hot, you can add carrot or celery sticks and or blue cheese or ranch dressing as a side dish.

Cooking wings for your friends and family can be fun and rewarding. It is important to note that not everyone has the same taste and liking. That is why it may be important to have a mild, medium and hot sauce for the wings. Providing all temperatures of sauces will impress your guests and render you the king or queen of the chicken wing revolution!
